Why Online Shopping is Good For Indians

Jaya Kumar Patchala asked:

The first thing that comes to mind when we think of online shopping is convenience and timesaving. There is no doubt that we miss the fun of moving around different shopping malls and enjoying food outside. That is the best option if we have leisure time. Probably it is good on weekends to go out for shopping and family dinner. India has the second largest population in the world and everyone thinks about spending their weekends in shopping. Sure, we have crowds everywhere. When many people gather around a few sales assistants, you do not get the information or service that you require. You have to wait for long periods and it is no longer fun. Discount stores are often over-crowded, but you have to buy there and you want to know a few things before you buy.

More often than not, you find sales people cannot explain features or functions. Product literature is often missing. If you want to know which one is better for you in a given product range, it is hard to get honest answers. Get on to the web and type in your product keywords or go to any online shopping site such as foostor.com in India, you can get a lot of product information. There are sites that offer product comparison as well. You can read reviews and how to guides online. You are fully informed before you buy a thing.

Another thing you can do is to find if you are getting an item with all benefits (warranty etc) at the best (lowest price) price or not. I find it annoying to learn that an item I bought is available at 20% discount in another part of the town. I am supposed to know about such discounts, but how do I know? Again, Internet is much faster than going through old newspapers or picking up the phone and calling every shop. To get an unannounced discount, you have to do haggling on price or talk about other brands or shops and you really get to the nerves of the seller. Embarrassing sometimes, but you have to get the item for a price less than your neighbor paid for it.

Else, it is even more embarrassing to bear with your bargain-hunting neighbor. However, you do not need to worry anymore. Just use Internet, go to any price comparison-shopping site, and note down prices at various stores. Carefully read about entire offers made, some sites may be offering extended warranty or freebies or free shipping. You can easily figure out the actual price of the product and why is it costing you more? Sometimes you can find the suggested retail price at manufacturer’s site or the price at which the product is launched. So, you know if it is a true discount or not, if there is one. All this information is readily available on the internet for all popular products.

So you have product information, reviews and pricing information, where do you buy. It is your choice, now that you are empowered with some information, you can go around shops and send sales assistants into a state of nervousness. Most stores keep what sells fast. Shelf-space is at a premium at many stores. You are lucky if you can find your item in the nearby store. Else, you have to do a lot of driving around and calling people. On the internet, there are no such hassles. You can get it from the online store, delivered straight to your home.

It is OK if you can carry your purchased items on the back of your car or bike. Not many Indians have cars and not all items can fit into the back of a car. If it is a big one, you need to find an auto-rickshaw or a cart to transport your item to your home and some workers to carry it around before installation. When you buy online, products are shipped directly to your home. They take care of packing and delivery and what’s more, most of the shopping websites in India offer free shipping on most products. Just place an order and wait for a few days.

It is far more convenient to do shopping online in India than you can think of. You can save yourself from a lot of stress and misinformation.

Grocery Shopping Tips

Cheryline Lawson asked:

Before you go to the supermarket, be sure that you do some planning. Write down what you need in the store. Go to your cupboards and pantry and look at what you already have and what is running low. Write down everything on a list. Take an inventory on the coupons that you have for these items that you are about to purchase so that you can get additional discounts and savings.

Selecting the right grocery store to do your shopping is important. Most grocery store offers a selection of frequent shopper programs, double coupon savings, and discounts on bulk shopping and sale items. Buying in bulk will save you more and these products will last longer to prevent periodic visits to the grocery store. There are also products that have different price range to choose from.

Eat before you go shopping. One smell of anything delicious or tasty will get you picking up that item when you are hungry. Everything in the grocery store will look enticing to you if you go to the grocery store in a hungry state.

You can save additional money by using coupons, accessing product incentives offered, and taking advantage of any frequent shopping programs. Your savings can be astronomical when you utilize all the discounts available to you.

Buy store brands. Don’t think that store brands are of less quality. Experiment and see if you like them. Store brands cost less and most of them are of good quality. You can save as much as forty percent on your shopping in one year.

Don’t go to the store on impulse. Impulse buying will rob you of any discounts that you may have received had you planned your trip. A planned shopping list is better than just walking into the store wandering which isle to begin. You also need to set a budget for your shopping trip and impulse shopping will let you spend more than you bargain for.

Don’t be afraid to do comparison shopping because you will be able to determine the real product value when you compare brands and unit price. Take time to look at the label to compare how much you are getting for each product according to its unit price. Check for the expiration date of the products you are buying. Read the label of each product to find out the nutritional value. Don’t just buy quantity, but quality.

Pay attention to the scanner at the check out counter. Don’t be distracted by the magazines at the check out counter. Keep your eyes on the scanner because nine times out of ten, the cashier will make a mistake and you won’t catch it. If an item shows the wrong price, you will be able to let the checker know. You don’t want to be overcharged. You also want to watch the person who bags the grocery to make sure that everything you purchase is going into your bags. You don’t want to wait until you get home to find out that something you bought did not make it home.

How to Save Money Online With Cash Back, Voucher and Comparison Sites

Muneeb Galant asked:

Do a bit of homework first – go to comparison shopping sites such as Kelkoo.com or Google shopping and do a search on the items you looking for. The search results will give you an idea of what the cheapest price you can expect to pay. Do a search on the online auction sites such as eBay.com – always check the sellers rating and buyer reviews before making a purchase. Auction sites are a good way of finding bargains. Do a search for promotional coupons – there are many discount coupons to be found at sites like RetailMeNot.com and VoucherCodes.co.uk, which gives you an instant discount. Use cash back sites like FatWallet.com and Quidco.co.uk, which gives you money back for shopping online. Each time a customer purchases an item through such a site, they earn cash back. The way cash back sites work is that the merchant pays the website owner a commission for passing on the sale, which in turn gets passed on to the customer. Check sites for mail-in rebates – sometimes the biggest discount is when you apply for a mail in rebate. BHPhotoVideo.com always has some excellent mail in rebates with massive discounts. Check your country for specific discount shopping sites. Its no use living in Timbuktu and looking for an LCD TV from Amazon, which does not ship electronics to your country.

Once you have done your research and comparisons made between the various options, you can make an informed decision.

3 Things To Look For in an Auto Finance Lender

Carrie Reeder asked:

Auto Finance Lenders can help you get a loan for a new car, a necessity for many people. Most people know that comparison shopping between many different lenders is the best way to get the lowest cost loan and the best deal. And there are a few things you should look for in an auto finance lender:

Low cost

One of the most important aspects of an auto loan company is their price for your loan, including fees, extra charges and your interest rate. If the current interest rate for auto loans is 7%, and the lending company wants to charge you 10%, chances are they’re inflating the rate just to pad their pockets. Watch out for a company that charges suspicious fees, too. Every loan company should be willing to give you a list of any extra fees and charges that are tacked onto your bill. Watch out for any items that seem exorbitant or unusual.

Variety

There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all loan. Every individual has different circumstances that affect their personal finances, and variables such as credit score, employment and savings can dramatically affect the type of loan you should choose. A good auto finance lender will have a variety of options available to you, such as low down-payment loans, longer term loans, or higher interest loans.

Comfort

You should feel at ease with your lender. Make sure your loan officer isn’t pressuring you into accepting a loan that’s larger than you need, or one that has a longer term than you desire. Make sure you’re comfortable asking questions and getting clarification, since you want to feel free to inquire about any part of your auto loan.

As you choose an auto finance lender, you might also want to consider extras that might be available to you. Some lenders allow you to manage your account online, including making payments and receiving emailed statements. Others have tools at your disposal, such as financial calculators to determine if refinancing your auto loan is right for you. Although these “extras” aren’t necessary for an auto finance lender, they can help make things easier for you.
